NCPA Class AA Event #4.5 Maynard, MA - The New England Open

The fourth and final NCPA event saw a split in the traditional Northeast Conference, as the southern teams played in Taneytown, MD and the northern teams played at Boston Paintball Outdoor in Maynard, MA. Several teams, such as Central Connecticut State University and Bridgewater State College, used the opportunity to make their debuts.

RPI once again played inconsistently, going 2-6 in the prelims and failing to reach the semifinals. We congratulate UMass on winning and CCSU for placing second in their first ever NCPA tournament.

This concludes the NCPA season for RPI. All players who played in the last two tournaments are returning for next year, which should hopefully produce better results. Also, the success of this tournament will likely lead to the formation of the New England Conference of the NCPA, which would lead to more tournaments closer to RPI.

NCPA Class AA Event #3 Greensburg, PA - The Frost Bowl

RPI sent a line down to All American Paintball Park to compete in the Frost Bowl, known to be one of the best-run tournaments in the NCPA. Twenty-seven other teams competed and proved to be fierce competition. RPI got off to a slow start, losing its first five games, but rebounded to win its last three games in resounding fashion. Unfortunately, the push proved futile as RPI fell short of reaching the semifinals. Despite the disappointment, RPI's players gained some valuable experience and are looking forward to the fourth event of the season.

NCPA Class AA Event #2 Chesapeake City, MD - NEIC Champs

Having already kicked off the year with the first event in Massachusetts the RPI Team was ready to prove itself yet again and did the team do that. We came out shooting and ended our 8 preliminary games with a 5-3 record putting us in the 5th seed out of 19teams. This easily put us into the semi final round robin bracket. In the semi finals all teams stepped up the game and the RPI team had a handful of hard fought battles that left us in 7th place at the end of the day. Our huge improvement at this tournament has shown the true effectiveness of our team practices over the past two months. This tournament marks the conclusion of the outdoor fall season of paintball so the team will continue as students of the sport by watching and dissecting videos while keeping athletically active throughout the winter. Expect this momentum to continue into the future as the team increases its standings in the National Collegiate Paintball Associaton.

NCPA Class AA Event #1 Maynard, MA - UMass Open

The NCPA team kicked off the competitive year in great fashion fielding two squads to go to Boston Paintball’s fully turfed outdoor field in Massachusetts. There were a total of 17 teams at the event making for packed day. Across the board teams stepped up their game since last season. RPI Black, featuring primarily returning players showed marked improvement and despite having a tough schedule did admirably. The second squad, RPI Red, consisted primarily of new members showing the increase in participation in the team this year. The next event is the NEIC Champs at ECX Paintball in Cheseapeake City Maryland. With consistent practice well under way RPI Paintball aims to place well at this next NCPA event.
