Hey, im only a junior in HS right now, but ive got the list of schools that i will apply to narrowed down, with RPI in the top 5. Athletics are important though, and i visited the paintball clubs site about a week ago, but i just had a few questions to clarify certain things.
1) Is this more of a recreation/friends going paintballing club or a tournament-team producing club?
2) Any marker is fine, no company sponsorships for the RPI club restricting use? (Currently i use/own a Dangerous Power Threshold and a GS Frostbite Bushmaster(although i doubt any company would have a problem with the now extinct ICD brand))
3) From the pictures, it seems like the club members do a lot of reffing, would you say its more reffing than playing overall ormore playing than reffing?
4) From the videos, i saw some pump action (always fun, but i traded my phantom a long time ago). Is that a regular event or was it just for fun?
5) Anything else i should know, should i get accepted to RPI? (If i get accepted, theres no doubt that ill join the club if that is alright)
Thanks, Zack. |

1. We cater to both casual players and more competitive ones who look to play in the NCPA college league
2. Company sponsorship....please, unless your going to uconn and have played divisional in the nppl d2 and up you won't find paintball gun sponsorships for college teams
3. Those pictures you are looking at are from an introduction event that incoming freshman participated in and the team helped out by refing. I highly doubt there is a paintball club that refs all the time, that would be lame.
4. Those videos are wicked old, but pump is always a great way to improve your skills, lots of winning teams do it.
5. Uh, well first off the website is certainly not the best barometer of what happens/is happening with the paintball team. I mean if your playing your not taking pictures, so we don't have many events pictured, but we do have a lot of pictures per event if that makes sense.
The thing you should know is you have the hardest part ahead of you, college applications and the always classic acceptance/rejection phase. Besides that as much as I love paintball and it was one factor to me coming to RPI you should certainly always hold academics and related factors as your highest priority in finding what college to go to.
I hope that cleared some things up.
